What’s the Logo?
The impossible triangle (also called the Penrose Triangle) is like a lot of those Escher pictures – at first it looks fine, but if you follow it round, you realise it can’t possibly happen like that. In Human Factors and in Project Management, the impossible triangle is often what we’re attempting to create. We’re attempting to find the perfect balance between the person, the hardware, the software and the environment to create the optimal system. Likewise, in PM we are attempting to find the perfect balance between the time available and the resources available to meet the
Escher Waterfall
objectives of the customer (both in terms of quality but also whether or not we actually give them what they were looking for). Often, as is the nature of R&D, a person doesn’t really know what they are looking for, but they seem to know what they weren’t looking for when they see it.
To many, what Lamoureux CSE does may seem impossible: happy customers, quality outputs, on time and on budget. The convergence of these triangular models with the seeming impossibility of what we’re trying to do led us to identify with the Penrose Triangle, so we made it our logo.
What are we doing?
